127 Years of Eternity

In recent years, as a result of urbanization, a rapid decrease in forest areas can be observed around the city of Riga. Pine forest ecosystems are being replaced by empty fences, lawns of grass, and a single tree in a pot on the large steps of a house. A person places themselves and those close to them in a lifeless, artificial environment — a cage of emptiness. In this way, any possibility of biodiversity in the environment surrounding a person is completely destroyed.Since ancient times, the pine has been considered a very special tree in many cultures around the world. It symbolizes peace, wisdom, hope, and eternity. It is unique due to its ability to survive in harsh conditions. It never sleeps and watches us all year round through its deep green fur.
Although the pine symbolizes eternity, when it comes into contact with a person, it also comes to an end. We live in an era when all spheres of life are subject to economic interests. The masses of society worship money and pleasure. Thus, in all living people and the environment they have created, culture is slowly being slaughtered. What if a person remembered the values that our ancestors knew? The values that can be learned and observed in nature? Perhaps then peace, wisdom, and hope would cover the metal grid that society has placed between man and nature — between our true human nature and the mask of cynical pragmatism.
